The film stars acclaimed actor-director Nandita Das and veteran performer Nasser in lead roles. Set in the forests of Andhra Pradesh during the mid-20th century, it tells the story of an ancient tribe struggling to preserve their traditional way of life amid modernization.

The project was developed by writer-director Aditya Vempaty, who is of Koya ancestry. He spent months living in the Koya heartland to understand their way of life before starting production. "I wanted to tell a story that examines changing our relationship to nature and each other as the world develops around us."

Cast of the film
Das, known for directing films like Firaaq, Manto, and Zwigato, plays Devi in Nadhi. Her character's grown children are portrayed by Maharshi Vudhya, Anusha Nuthula, and Jagan Yogiraj. The film also stars Mia Maelzer and Saileela. Nasser plays Sathya Mohan, a government officer who connects the past with the present timelines of the film. The cast comprises both non-actors from the Koya community and trained actors from Hyderabad's theater scene.

Production design and shooting locations
The production team of Nadhi shot on location at the foothills of the Eastern Ghats and outside Hyderabad. They worked closely with local communities to recreate a period setting, building an authentic village along with sets, wardrobe, and props. The locals also guided them to untouched wilderness locations for filming. The film's producers include Brendan Bennett, Krishna Mamidibathula, and Vempaty, while Radha Krishna Nambu is the executive producer through FrameByFrame Pictures.
