#KingIsBack: SRK announces 'Pathaan' will hit screens in January 2023
And after a long wait, King Khan is all set to return to the big screens. Taking to social media on Wednesday, Shah Rukh Khan announced his upcoming spy thriller, Pathaan will be targeting January 25, 2023 as its release date. The date was announced along with a special video featuring Khan and his co-stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. Here's more.
The clip begins with Abraham telling the audience that names are often given to people in our country on the basis of their caste or religion, "But he [Pathaan] had none." Then, Padukone shows up to say, "He only had this country, India." Finally, Khan's voice shares that's why he considered his country as his religion and protecting her as his karam or duty.
Khan leaves his fans guessing as to why he was called what he is called today. And, we will have to wait a few days to get the answer. The caption to his video read, "I know it's late... But remember the date... Pathaan time starts now..." Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan happens to be a project under Yash Raj Films (YRF).

As soon as the teaser clip was shared, hashtags like #KingIsBack and #ShahRukhKhan started trending on Twitter and other social networking platforms. Along with the date announcement, the post informed us that Pathaan will be a multi-language venture, releasing in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Notably, it will mark Khan's return to celluloid after 2018's Zero. Thus expectations are sky-high from this one.
By booking Republic Day weekend of 2023, YRF has directly taken on two other big-budget ventures. Hrithik Roshan-Padukone's Fighter and Abraham-led Tehran will also come out on January 26. So, it will be Abraham v/s Abraham and Padukone v/s Padukone at the box office! Earlier, Luv Ranjan-directed Ranbir Kapoor's movie also had targeted a Republic Day outing, but now it'll release on Holi, 2023.
