'Didn't mean...': Priyadarshan clarifies 'poor education' comment on Rajpal Yadav
What's the story
Renowned filmmaker Priyadarshan has clarified his recent comments on actor Rajpal Yadav's "poor education." The director told HT City that his remarks were not meant to insult the actor, but rather to highlight the innocence and naivety that can come from a "lack of education." He explained that he was referring to street-smartness and general awareness rather than academic qualifications.
Statement
What did the filmmaker say
Priyadarshan said, "Actually, I didn't mean that. See, education is something we learn from the street and something we learn from the books too." "Now I just meant that (street smartness), maybe because education is also awareness. This is what I meant." The director added that his observation was based on Yadav's simplicity and trusting nature. "You should be able to discriminate between right people and wrong people. That is education in a very broad way."
