Raashii Khanna talks objectification of women in South Indian cinema
What's the story
In a recent interview with Zoom, actor Raashii Khanna spoke about the portrayal of women in South Indian cinema. She said that she would refuse roles that cross her personal limits. "It is very important that I should be comfortable in what I am doing," she said. "If I feel like a line is being crossed and I might look cheap in it, I will say no to it."
Actor's perspective
Khanna highlighted the actor's choice in role selection
Khanna further emphasized that the objectified portrayal of women in cinema is not limited to South Indian films. "Coming to the projection of women, it is not just a South thing; I see it in the North quite a lot," she said. "It completely depends on the choice of the actor. Some people are comfortable with it, some are not."
Career shift
Khanna's career transition and recent film success
Khanna, who has worked in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu films, expressed her desire to explore content-driven roles in Hindi cinema. "I have done so many commercial films in South that I feel I should take that step forward in Hindi and get into content," she said. Her latest film, 120 Bahadur, is currently playing successfully in theaters. The movie is directed by Razneesh Ghai and co-stars Farhan Akhtar.
