Shocker! Rakhi Sawant wins Dadasaheb Phalke for 'Best Item Dancer'
    Credits

Rakhi Sawant always hits headlines for her controversial statements and/or moves that usually leave us laughing. However, this time we are in shock. Reason? The Bollywood bombshell has been accorded with the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Award. Yes, you read that right! She has won the award for 'Best Item Dancer in Bollywood,' and this 'historic' moment took place on Saturday. Here is more.

Has she purchased the award? 'Hamari itni aukaat nai hai'

Such was the shock all around that someone actually asked her if she has purchased the award, and she had a reply to that as well. "Not at all. Hamari itni aukaat nai hai award ko purchase karein. The jury and the federation realized that Rakhi Sawant hasn't received an award since 12 years so I am very thankful to them," she replied.

Rakhi proudly flaunts the item girl tag, unlike many others

The 40-year-old Main Hoon Na actor further said, "It gives us motivation when an artist is honored with an award. It makes us work harder." Rakhi, who made her reputation in Bollywood with item numbers, proudly flaunts that tag. She, in fact, calls herself as "the original item girl" of the industry. So after she received this award, she was naturally jubilant.

'Finally! Thank God item girls are getting an award now'

"Finally! Thank God item girls are getting an award now. I have done around 75-100 item songs in all languages till date, I have done so many reality shows but I have never received an award. (Yes, I was nominated though)," Rakhi said.

'My legs and bones have given up dancing in Bollywood'

Rakhi made her debut in Bollywood with 1997 film Agnichakra, but got recognition when she danced to Mohabbat Hai Mirchi, a song composed by Himesh Reshammiya for the film Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne (2003). "My legs and bones have given up dancing in Bollywood, I have put in so much hardwork. Thank you so much for honoring me with this award," she said.

Gurmeet Choudhary, Sunil Grover, and Nia Sharma other award recipients

Rakhi also performed at the award ceremony. The other recipients of Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Award were Gurmeet Choudhary, Sunil Grover, and Nia Sharma, who bagged 'The Stylish actress of the year' award. Nakuul Mehta, and Roadies fame Kriti Verma too won their respective awards.

Recently, Rakhi draped Pakistan's flag, created outrage on social media

Recently, Rakhi angered social media and her Instagram followers by draping Pakistan's flag, and posing next to a crystal-clear water stream. She captioned it as, "I love my india but its my character in the film dhara 370." She later said in a video that in the film, she plays a Pakistani girl, who busts terrorist organizations that recruit children in name of jihad.

Rakhi uploads another video, says she loves Pakistani people

After the outrage, she released another video in which she emphasized her role in the film, and started defending people of Pakistan. She said that Pakistanis are sweet people, and that all are not bad. She added that she respects Pakistan and its people, and only those attached with terrorist organizations should be condemned. She was massively trolled this time as well.
