Renowned filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has confirmed the fourth installment of his acclaimed political crime franchise, Sarkar. The director revealed that production for Sarkar 4 will commence next month. "I am making Sarkar 4. I'm starting that next month," he said during a session at the Red Lorry Film Festival's opening day. He also briefly spoke about another upcoming project titled The Syndicate, which he humorously claimed would "wash away all my sins."

The original Sarkar, released in 2005, starred Amitabh Bachchan as Subhash Nagre, a powerful political figure. Abhishek Bachchan played his son Shankar in the film, which became a critically acclaimed political drama. The franchise was further expanded with Sarkar Raj (2008) and Sarkar 3 (2017). While Aishwarya Rai Bachchan joined the cast of the second installment as Anita Rajan, Yami Gautam Dhar, Manoj Bajpayee and Amit Sadh were introduced in the third part.

Varma reveals influence behind cult classic 'Shiva'
Varma was at the Red Lorry Film Festival for a special screening of his cult classic Shiva. He revealed that some shots in Shiva were inspired by legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg's style of shot-taking.
