Steven Allan Spielberg is a Hollywood film director, producer, and screenwriter. Born on December 18, 1946, in Ohio, he is amongst the most successful directors of Hollywood. His movies range from the action-thriller genre to the sci-fi genre. Steven Spielberg is best known for directing Hollywood blockbuster movies like ‘Jaws’ (1975), ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’ (1977), ‘E.T. The Extra -Terrestrial’ (1982), ‘The Color Purple’ (1985), ‘Empire of the Sun’ (1987), ‘A.I. Artificial Intelligence’ (2001), ‘Minority Report’ (2002), ‘War of the Worlds’ (2005), ‘The Adventures of Tintin’ (2011), ‘Lincoln’ (2012), and ‘The Post’ (2017). He has been closely associated with Universal Studios. He also directed blockbuster series such as ‘Jurassic Park’ (1995-2001), and the ‘Indiana Jones’ series (1981-2022). In 1984, Spielberg along with producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall co-founded the production company Amblin Entertainment Inc and DreamWorks Pictures. He is the recipient of three Academy Awards. The American screenwriter Anne Spielberg is his sister. He married Hollywood actress Amy Irving in 1985 and divorced her in 1988. He tied the knot with former Hollywood Actress Kate Capshaw in 1991 and has been married since then.
