At the airport, Rishi was seen wearing a a dark shirt, trousers, and a dark canvas shoe, while Neetu donned a black shirt and denims. He sported a grey beard, and looked healthy. Both of them were all smiles as they waved at the cameras.
Before their return, Anupam Kher, who is in New York for work assignments, had posted a tweet on Monday night, bidding farewell to Rishi and Neetu. He wished them "a safe trip back to India," and that he's "going to miss you terribly." "I've mixed feelings. I'm happy & sad at the same time. We had a great time," Kher's tweet read.

Ever since Rishi's return, several took to Twitter to welcome him. Singer Adnan Sami wrote, "Welcome back!! Thrilled!!," while a fan suggested him to go straight to Asha Bhosle's place for dinner. The tweet referred to Rishi's September 8 post, where he had told her that he would visit her for dinner. That came after he wished the singer on her birthday.

Earlier it was reported that Rishi might make it to India to mark Ganesh Chaturthi, an important celebration for the Kapoors, and also his birthday. "Celebrating Ganpati is a family tradition. So, I am hoping to be part of it," he had informed. However, in an earlier interview, he had noted that he'd plan his "return five-six weeks after my last treatment."
It was last September when Rishi suddenly left India for NY. He and his family remained mum over the issue, but sources confirmed that he was suffering from cancer. Rishi later narrated, "I had a marrow problem. I had to get it rectified. You can't fly long hours so I had to be here (New York). I went through treatment and, it was successful."
Several times during his NY stay, Rishi spoke about how he was missing India and homemade food, especially pomfret (fish), and "soft chapatis made of chakki ka atta." "I miss eating pomfret; it's not available here. I also miss soft homemade chapatis. Those soft chapatis made of chakki ka atta are something else," he observed. Now that you're back home, have your fill, Rishi!
