Daughter Romy discovered her parents

To note, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has not confirmed the identities of the deceased, but multiple portals have reported that the Reiners are indeed the victims. According to People, the elderly couple was stabbed by their second-oldest son, Nick. What's more tragic is that the couple's daughter, Romy, reportedly discovered their bodies at their Brentwood home. Nick has spoken about his struggle with drug addiction in the past. He was also homeless for a long time.

Reiner, 78, was the son of legendary comedian Carl Reiner. He gained fame as Mike "Meathead" Stivic on CBS's sitcom All in the Family in the 1970s. Later, he gradually shifted his focus toward directing. He directed several iconic films such as Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, and When Harry Met Sally... His last directorial venture was 2025's Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, a sequel to his 1984's This Is Spinal Tap.

In addition to his directing career, Reiner also appeared on screen as Jess's father Bob in New Girl. He was married to Singer Reiner since 1989 and they had three children together. Their firstborn Jake was born in 1991, followed by Nick (born 1993), and then Romy (born 1997). Reiner was also the adoptive father of actor Tracy Reiner (born 1964), the daughter of his first wife, actor-director Penny Marshall.

On Nick's drug addiction battle

Although all three of Rob-Michele's children stayed mostly out of limelight, Nick made a splash in the 2010s for co-writing Being Charlie (2015). Directed by Reiner, it was based on Nick's experience with drug addiction and rehab. Per People, his struggles began in his teens, and he spent a significant amount of time homeless in multiple states. "Now, I've been home for a really long time, and I've sort of gotten acclimated...being around my family," Nick told People in 2016.
