What's the story

A hotline established by Tony Buzbee, a Texas-based lawyer representing 120 alleged sexual abuse victims against music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs, has reportedly received an overwhelming 12,000 calls within approximately 24 hours. The surge in calls followed a press conference where Buzbee announced new allegations against Combs. "From the press conference we had yesterday, we've had 12,000 calls in about 24 hours," Buzbee told Law&Crime.

Verification process

Buzbee's team is working to verify new allegations

Buzbee's team is currently sifting through the influx of calls to identify potential victims and witnesses. "So, our Herculean task is to try to sift through every one of these calls and make sure that we're identifying those who are victims and those who are witnesses and collect evidence," he said. He further stated that they have nearly 100 people dedicated to this task, ensuring that any additional claims made by alleged victims are substantiated before proceeding with legal action.

Allegation details

New wave of allegations against Combs spans 3 decades

The new wave of allegations against Combs, announced by Buzbee, reportedly spans three decades and includes 25 minors. The children allegedly abused by the rapper were "seeking TV or music careers with promises of 'I'll make you a star,'" Buzbee claimed. He further revealed that his firm has corroborated these allegations with evidence such as videos, pictures, text messages, police reports, and hospital records.

Legal proceedings

Combs's arrest and denial of allegations

Combs was arrested on September 16 by Homeland Security agents at a New York hotel on charges of sex trafficking. He is currently being held without bail in federal custody in Brooklyn and has pleaded not guilty to federal charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Responding to the allegations, Combs's attorney, Erica Wolff, dismissed them as part of a "reckless media circus," stating that Combs "emphatically and categorically denies" all claims of sexual abuse.
