Shilpa's political debut at this time had also led to speculations about her possibly contesting in the 2019 Assembly elections, which are almost round the corner. The actress, putting the speculations to rest, confirmed that she indeed will be contesting in the upcoming polls. "Right now, I'm joining the party. Later, I'll get a clear picture from (where) I'm going to fight," Shilpa added.

Interestingly, Shilpa's family has a long association with Congress. Her father Satyadev Shinde, who passed away in 2013 was a judge in Mumbai High Court, and was associated with Congress. "My father was also in Congress. He was a good friend of Sharad Pawar and Sushil Kumar Shinde," Shilpa asserted. Looks like Shilpa is following her father's footsteps!
