What's the story

Baahubali actor Tamannaah Bhatia has been roped in to play Jayashree, a prominent actor and the second wife of legendary filmmaker V Shantaram aka Shantaram Rajaram Vankudre, in the upcoming biographical drama, V. Shantaram. The film stars Siddhant Chaturvedi as the titular character and is directed by Abhijeet Shirish Deshpande. The makers unveiled Bhatia's first look from the film on Tuesday.

Bhatia's look pays homage to vintage Indian cinema

The poster features Bhatia in a pink Nauvari saree, paying homage to the golden era of Indian cinema. Jayashree, who starred in films like Dr. Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani, Shakuntala, Chandra Rao More, and Dahej, was an integral part of Shantaram's cinematic journey. "It's a great responsibility to portray a character rooted in one of the most influential eras of our cinema," Bhatia said about her role, per Variety.
