    What's the story

The re-release of the critically acclaimed film Tumbbad has entered its second week with impressive box office collections.

The film, which originally premiered in 2018, has experienced a significant resurgence with its 2024 re-release, outperforming its initial lifetime collection within just eight days.

The total collection for its re-release currently stands at approximately ₹15.75 crore net, surpassing its original run's lifetime collection of ₹13.50 crore.

'Tumbbad' re-release witnesses nearly 100% increase in earnings

Tumbbad's re-release has reportedly shown a nearly 100% increase in earnings on its second Friday compared to the previous day.

This surge can be attributed to National Cinema Day (Friday) and the film's growing positive word of mouth.

In its first week, Tumbbad collected approximately ₹13.15 crore net, including ₹7.25 crore during its opening weekend.

    Film synopsis

'Tumbbad' captivates audiences with compelling narrative and innovative approach

Directed by Rahi Anil Barve and led by Sohum Shah, Tumbbad tells the story of a man's endless pursuit of hidden treasure in a cursed village.

The film is acclaimed for its blend of myth, folklore, and human greed against a visually breathtaking backdrop.

As announced recently, the movie will spawn a sequel in the coming years.

Adesh Prasad, who co-directed the original film, will helm the new installment.
