Vidya Balan to play Mithun's daughter in 'Jailer 2'

Bollywood actor Vidya Balan (46) will be making her full-fledged Tamil debut with Jailer 2, reported HT City. The film, which has already completed more than half of its shoot, will see her playing the role of Mithun Chakraborty's (75) eldest daughter. Chakraborty plays the main antagonist opposite Rajinikanth's character in this Nelson Dilipkumar directorial. Notably, Balan earlier made a special appearance in the Tamil film Nerkonda Paarvai in 2019.

A source close to the project told HT City that the film is currently being shot in Chennai. After completing the Chennai schedule, the team will reportedly shift to Goa for two months of shooting starting late October. The film is expected to enter post-production by January. The makers are eyeing an August 2026 release for this highly anticipated project.
