Vinayakan's derogatory remarks about Yesudas spark political outrage
Malayalam actor Vinayakan is under fire after a string of controversial social media posts.
It started with him criticizing filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan at a film conclave organized by the State government, but things really blew up when he used harsh language about legendary singer Yesudas—prompting strong reactions from the public and cultural icons.
Congress leader calls actor a 'public nuisance'
On August 8, 2025, Congress leader Muhammad Shiyas called Vinayakan a "public nuisance" and urged authorities to step in, suggesting either medical help or legal action.
Playback singer G. Venugopal also spoke up for Yesudas, calling his contribution to music "revolutionary" and slamming Vinayakan's comments as out of line.
The situation escalated further after Vinayakan made derogatory remarks about a female journalist, leading to even more calls for an apology or consequences.
