Set in 1950s Madras, Kaantha explores the complex relationship between Ayya (Samuthirakani), a respected filmmaker, and T.K. Mahadevan (Salmaan), a rising actor. The film's central conflict arises when Mahadevan starts changing the tone and direction of a film to suit his stardom. The ensemble cast also features Bhagyashri Borse, Rana Daggubati, Ravindra Vijay, Nizhalgal Ravi, and Bagavathi Perumal, among others.
