Anurag Kashyap says 'Gangs of Wasseypur' "ruined" his life
It was an overdue cinematic revolution for Bollywood when the atypical, nasty crime-drama, Gangs of Wasseypur hit our theaters back in 2012. And who other than Anurag Kashyap would have been a better man for the job? Surprisingly, now that the smash hit has completed seven years of release, Kashyap says that the film "ruined" his life. Wondering why? Here's what the director said.
Here's why: Everyone loved it and couldn't get enough
Overtime, 'Gangs...' has earned a modern cult status
To recall, Gangs of Wasseypur was an epic crime drama saga, roughly based on the real-life gang wars of Dhanbad. The film, starring an ensemble cast, including Manoj Bajpayee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Richa Chadda, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Pankaj Tripathi, received massive critical acclaim, and was a commercial success as well. Kashyap, however, said that he has been unsuccessful in creating the magic, again.
Meanwhile, Kashyap has many projects in the pipeline
On the work front, Anurag Kashyap, whose last silver screen outing was Manmarziyaan (2018) is busy as always. Reportedly, the ace director is currently in talks with Malayalam actor Roshan Mathew and Saiyami Kher (Mirzya) for his next venture. Meanwhile, as producer, Kashyap has two upcoming releases, namely Hrithik Roshan-led Super 30, releasing on July 12, 2019 and biopic drama, Saand Ki Aankh.
