Yami Gautam Dhar oozes unease in 'A Thursday' teaser

After the production for A Thursday wrapped up in July last year, the film is finally heading toward its release. Disney+ Hotstar dropped its teaser on Wednesday and the promo clip intrigues us about the movie. Makers also announced a trailer will be released on January 10. The Yami Gautam Dhar-led thrilling drama has been written and directed by Behzad Khambata of Blank fame.
The less-than-30-second-long clip opens in a kindergarten where several kinds of toys are scattered. We can hear multiple students singing the nursery rhyme, "Twinkle twinkle little star." Although we do not see any kid in the visual, in the end, Gautam Dhar shows up, also singing the rhyme, but with an uncanny, serious expression. The clip concludes with the sound of a gunshot.

Sharing the teaser, Hotstar said: "Yup, safe to say that #YamiGautam isn't here to kid around." Beginning the shoot in March, the 33-year-old had completed it shortly after marrying filmmaker Aditya Dhar. "After my wedding, this is another thing that is going to take a while to sink in that A Thursday is over...I know it is going to be amazing," she had said.
Apart from the Uri actor, the movie will feature Atul Kulkarni, Neha Dhupia, and Maya Sarao in pivotal roles. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP Movies and Blue Monkey Films, the movie will follow an intelligent playschool teacher (Gautam Dhar) who takes 16 toddlers hostage one day. The title and the siege bit could remind one of the highly acclaimed 2008 film, A Wednesday.
Given the links, one might wonder if A Thursday will be a sequel to the Neeraj Pandey directorial that starred Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher in the lead. Interestingly, Screwvala was also one of the producers on board A Wednesday but our guess is this is where the similarities between the projects end. We will know for sure once the film drops.
