Zubeen Garg's final film to release on October 31
What's the story
The late Assamese singer Zubeen Garg's final film, Roi Roi Binale, will be released on October 31, announced filmmaker Rajesh Bhuyan. The movie is a tribute to Garg's legacy and features his original voice recordings. "Zubeen Garg wanted this movie to be released on 31st October... not just in Assam, but nationwide," Bhuyan told ANI. Garg passed away in Singapore on September 19 in an alleged drowning incident. He was in the country to perform at the Northeast India Festival.
Film details
Film was 1st musical Assamese movie
Bhuyan revealed that the film was Garg's (52) first musical Assamese movie and that they had been working on it for three years. "We had completed almost all the work on the movie, except for the background music." He also confirmed that 80-90% of Garg's voice is clear in the recordings, as they were done using a lapel mic.
Wife's comments
It was a passion project for Garg
Speaking about the movie earlier, Garg's wife, Garima Saikia Garg, said, "He was very excited about it. He would have appeared as a blind artist. It's clearly a musical love story. I think people would love it too, but since we couldn't dub his voice, that would be a flaw in the film." "But other things, music and everything else, were done, except for the background score, which he couldn't finish."
Ongoing investigation
Investigation into the singer's death is still underway
Meanwhile, the investigation into Garg's death is still underway. His bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami has alleged that Garg was "poisoned" in Singapore and that manager Siddharth Sharma and festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta had "deliberately chosen a foreign venue to conceal their conspiracy." Sharma, Goswami, and Mahanta have been arrested as part of the probe.
