Delhi: 11 family members found dead, some blindfolded, some gagged
In a shocking case, eleven members of a family were mysteriously found dead inside their home in Delhi's Burari today. While some were found hanging, others were lying on the floor. At least some of them were blindfolded, gagged or had their hands and legs tied up. Seven were women while three were minors. Police say they are investigating all angles, including a murder-suicide pact.
The family, identified as the Bhatias, lived on the first floor of the Sant Nagar house, and ran a grocery shop on the floor below. They also owned a plywood business. They were having financial troubles, reported News18. They generally open their shop by 6am, but when it remained closed till 7:30am today, a neighbor went up to check and found the bodies.
The victims, who hailed from Rajasthan, included an old woman, her two sons and their wives, two teenage boys, and four other women. They had been living in the area since 20 years, India Today claimed.
Police are now probing if it was murder or mass suicide, and if there was any pact in existence. However, no note was found at the spot. In the case of the old woman, her body was found on the floor, leading cops to believe she was strangulated. Police are scanning CCTV footage from the area and talking to their relatives to find out more.
