Two United States nationals were detained at the Srinagar International Airport on Sunday after security personnel found a satellite phone in their luggage during a routine check. To prevent such violations, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has taken steps to educate passengers about the ban on satellite phones. On January 30, 2025, the DGCA directed airlines operating flights to India to inform passengers through in-flight announcements and onboard publications. This is part of India's effort to ensure compliance with its strict telecom regulations and enhance security measures at airports.
