4 Bangladeshi women trafficked to India for sex work rescued
Pune police raided a brothel in Budhwar Peth on Thursday night and found five Bangladeshi nationals, including four women who were allegedly forced into prostitution.
The victims had come to India after being promised jobs in beauty parlors or tailoring, but instead were threatened and pushed into sex work.
Officers found them confined, with their earnings taken away by the accused.
Police arrest man, booking him under trafficking laws
Police arrested Bhupsingh Rajput, booking him under trafficking laws along with the owner of the building and Mulla (identified as a Bangladeshi agent) and Babu Bhaiya (alias Papa Shaikh).
This is not a first for Pune: in a previous incident, police rescued 11 more Bangladeshi women and several minors from similar raids in the same area.
The authorities say they are committed to cracking down on these rackets and helping survivors get support.
