AirSewa: Over 97,000 complaints about airlines since late 2016

India

Since late 2016, AirSewa has logged over 97,000 complaints about airlines—making up almost 90% of all air travel issues reported on the platform.
The figures were tabled in the Lok Sabha on August 7, 2025, as per official data, highlighting just how many flyers have faced problems.

Major spikes in complaints during pandemic years

Out of about 1.1 lakh total grievances since launch, the biggest spikes happened in 2020 and again in 2024.
Most complaints were aimed at airlines (over 8,200), while the DGCA got around 1,800.
Right now, only a handful of cases are still pending.

Portal has over 1.67 lakh users

Launched in 2016 and revamped as AirSewa 2.0 in 2018, the portal has grown to over 1.67 lakh users by making it easier to file complaints—even through voice or video uploads.
The government admits there have been some tech hiccups like signup or server issues but says a dedicated Control Room is working on fixes.
For now though, there are no plans to link up with online travel agents.
