What's the story

The website of Al-Falah University was on Tuesday hacked by a group calling itself the "Indian Cyber Alliance." The cyber attack came a day after a car bomb exploded near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi. The hackers left a message on the university's website, condemning what they called "radical Islamic activities" and warning against anti-national pursuits.

Warning issued

The hackers warned the university to stay away from anti-national activities, stating that such institutions are "not allowed" in India. They advised those wanting to pursue radical ideologies to leave India and settle in Pakistan. "Take it as a warning; we are tracking your anti-national activities," it warned. The university website was later restored after the breach.

Cyber attack follows arrest of professor

The cyber attack on Al-Falah University follows the arrest of a medical professor, Dr. Muzamil Shakeel, from the institution. Shakeel's arrest led to the seizure of 2,900kg of explosives in Faridabad and a large cache of arms. Since his arrest, two other doctors associated with the university, Umar Mohammed and Shaheen Shahid, have reportedly been linked to the investigation.

Per reports, Mohammed was in the car that exploded at a traffic signal near the Red Fort Metro Station, and Shahid is alleged to have been tasked with setting up the women's wing of Jaish‑e‑Mohammed in India. This new faction is headed by Sadia Azhar, sister of Jaish founder Masood Azhar. During a search, rifles and ammunition were recovered from her car. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is currently investigating the blast.
