Andhra Pradesh CM Naidu announces Diwali bonus for state employees
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu just announced a Diwali "bonus" for state government employees.
Starting November 1, they'll get an extra Dearness Allowance (DA) installment, plus perks like half the police's earned leave paid out, promotions for Road Transport Corporation workers, property tax waivers, and up to 180 days of childcare leave before retirement.
Package aims to boost morale, tackle fiscal challenges
This move is meant to ease long-standing dues and boost morale at a time when the state's finances are tight—Naidu pointed out that Andhra Pradesh spends 91% of its budget on establishments.
The government has cleared over ₹15,900 crore in pending dues and is working through more from previous years.
With promises to announce a Pay Revision Commission soon and streamline health insurance within 60 days, the package is designed to keep employees motivated while tackling big fiscal challenges.
