Arunachal: ULFA(I) militant killed in encounter with security forces
India
A suspected member of the banned ULFA(I) group was killed in a gunfight with security forces on Wednesday in Namsai district, Arunachal Pradesh.
Acting on a tip about militants hiding nearby, Assam Rifles moved in and were met with gunfire.
One suspect was killed, but the rest managed to escape.
Search for escaped militants underway
Security teams found an automatic rifle, a grenade, and some bags at the scene.
Now, helicopters, drones, and tracker dogs are out searching for the escaped militants—who are also linked to an attack last week at an army COB in Kakopathar in Assam's Tinsukia district.
