Bengaluru: Domestic worker beaten up by cops, 3 suspended

India

Three Bengaluru police personnel have been suspended after a 34-year-old domestic worker, Sundari Bibi, accused them of assaulting her at Varthur police station.
She was detained following a complaint from her employer about a missing diamond ring.

The 3 cops are now suspended

Bibi says the officers beat her so badly during questioning with lathis, calling her an illegal Bangladeshi immigrant.
Local workers and an activist helped get her released, and she was taken to hospital for treatment.
The Karnataka Home Minister has asked for a full report, and the Women's Commission is also looking into it.
The three cops—Sanjay Rathod, Santosh Kudari, and Archana—are now suspended while the investigation continues.
