Bengaluru Metro expansion: Network to touch 175km by Dec 2026
Big news for anyone moving around Bengaluru—the city's Metro is set to almost double in size, stretching from about 96km now to nearly 175km by the end of 2026.
The Karnataka government's plan is all about making public transport smoother and helping everyone escape those infamous traffic jams.
What's actually changing?
By the end of 2026, you'll see about 41km of new tracks up and running, including major parts of the Pink and Blue lines.
The rest—another 38km, including that much-awaited airport line—should be ready after/around late-2026.
That means getting across town (or catching a flight) should get way easier.
Why does this matter for you?
Phase 3 funding is being arranged, with help from Japan's JICA, and tenders for about 45km of new lines are expected to be floated soon.
This isn't just about shiny new trains; it means faster commutes, less time stuck on crowded roads, and better access for folks living further out.
If you're tired of traffic or just want more ways to get around the city, this expansion could be a real game-changer.
