Bengaluru: YouTube-inspired burglary nets ₹1.14cr, 2 arrested
Two men in Bengaluru—a former toll staffer and failed cloth business owner, and his friend—were arrested for breaking into a businessman's apartment and stealing ₹1.35 crore in cash and two gold rings; ₹1.14 crore and the gold were later recovered.
The theft happened on November 8 while the victim's family was away, and police caught the suspects days later.
How the plan came together—and unraveled
One of the accused, a distant relative of the victim, teamed up with his friend after watching burglary tutorials on YouTube.
They spent months tracking their target and even made two failed attempts before finally pulling off the break-in.
They wore helmets and masks to hide their identities, avoided using phones, and used a parked car to escape.
Despite all this planning, police tracked them down by reviewing over 90 CCTV cameras and recovered almost all the stolen money and gold from their homes.
