The death of a 16-year-old girl sparked tension in Bihar's Bhabua on Wednesday after her family alleged that three men gang-raped and murdered her on Tuesday. Her elder sister filed a police complaint at Bhagwanpur, accusing three men of raping and killing the girl. While her family alleged it was a case of rape and murder, the police claimed that the teenager had committed suicide, adding that the postmortem examination of the girl's body did not confirm rape. A medical board at the district hospital in Bhabua conducted the postmortem and her body was sent on Wednesday with police protection for the cremation to Varanasi.

"Prima facie, it seems to be a case of suicide due to a love affair. Police are investigating the case and trying to identify the people who have abetted the girl to end her life," said Superintendent of Police, Dilnawaz Ahmad.

She had no season to commit suicide: Victim's sister
The victim revealed the names of two accused persons before dying, claimed her sister. She said the girl and Saish Ali of Awasan village were dating, adding she had no reason to commit suicide. The victim went to withdraw money from a bank and later, her sister later received a call from a nurse at a Bhabua private hospital that her condition was critical.

Girl died on the way to Varanasi
After receiving the news, the victim's sister rushed to the hospital; she was asked to deposit Rs. 4,000 for treatment before meeting her. She arranged the money through a relative; they also arranged for an ambulance to take her to Varanasi but she died on the way around midnight. The victim's parents reportedly work in Gujarat while the two sisters live in the village.
