Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin met on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on Friday, their second meeting this year. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two leaders reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation in political, economic, defense, energy, space, skill mobility and people-to-people domains during the meeting. They also welcomed Russia's International Industrial Exhibition 'INNOPROM India," which was held from September 9 to 11 for the first time in India.

Discussed regional issues, invited PM Modi for annual summit
The leaders also shared perspectives on key regional and global issues of mutual interest, including the conflicts in West Asia and the Black Sea region, which have impacted maritime trade and the safety and security of Indian seafarers.
During the meeting, PM Modi once again reiterated that dialogue and diplomacy were the way forward in resolving conflicts and that India stood ready to assist in peace efforts.

Putin invited Modi to 24th India-Russia Annual Summit
They also agreed to remain engaged in an effort to further strengthen the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between the two countries, which the MEA said continues to register significant growth and has shown resilience in the backdrop of geopolitical uncertainties.
At the end, President Putin invited PM Modi to Russia for the 24th India-Russia Annual Summit, an invitation that was accepted by the Indian leader.

PM Modi gifted Russian translation of 'Thirukkural'
At the start of their meeting, PM Modi gifted President Putin a Russian translation of the "Thirukkural," a celebrated classical Tamil ethical and moral text written by the poet Thiruvalluvar.
After their meeting, they shared a car to head to the INNOPROM Exhibition at Bharat Mandapam.
This was their second meeting this year, after they met in Bishkek on August 31 during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit.
