Chandigarh Tricity paralyzed by record June rainfall
Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula got drenched on Sunday, with Chandigarh recording 119.5mm of rain by morning—the most for June since 1973.
The IMD has put out an orange alert for Monday, warning there could be more heavy rain.

Rain exposed cities' poor drainage
The downpour cooled things off (Sunday's high was 6.1 degrees below normal), but it also exposed the cities' poor drainage—many roads were flooded and some neighborhoods needed fire trucks to pump out water.
Officials say outdated infrastructure is to blame and are now asking for a ₹200 crore upgrade plan to help prevent future flooding.
