Pilot accused of raping crew member at Bengaluru hotel

A pilot of a chartered flight has been booked for allegedly sexually assaulting a 26-year-old cabin crew member at a hotel in Bengaluru, Hindustan Times reported. The incident took place on November 18, but the complaint was filed only after the survivor returned to Hyderabad. She approached the Begumpet Police Station, where a Zero FIR was registered under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to News18, the Begumpet Police Station official said, "After returning to Hyderabad, the crew member reported the incident here and we registered a case and it was transferred to Halasuru police station in Bengaluru." The case has now been transferred to Halasuru Police Station in Bengaluru for further investigation. The chartered flight had departed from Hyderabad on a business trip with stops at Puttaparthi and Chennai before reaching Bengaluru.

The pilot and cabin crew were put up at a hotel in Bengaluru for an overnight stay. Based on the survivor's statement, Begumpet Inspector P Saidulu confirmed that the pilot "violated the crew member in the hotel room." After filing her complaint, Hyderabad police booked the case under appropriate BNS provisions and initiated its transfer to Bengaluru authorities.

The Bengaluru police have now taken over the investigation into the alleged sexual assault case. In a similar case, a London-based airline employee was arrested at Mumbai airport for allegedly raping a 23-year-old air hostess after forcing her to drink alcohol in July. He was arrested at Mumbai airport moments before he attempted to board a flight to Hong Kong.
