Passenger train loco pilot killed
Rescue teams quickly got to work, helping trapped passengers and rushing the injured to nearby hospitals.
The goods train guard managed to escape with minor injuries, but sadly, the passenger train's loco pilot lost his life and the assistant pilot was seriously hurt.
Investigation launched
An official investigation is underway to figure out why the red signal was ignored.
Meanwhile, both railway officials and Chhattisgarh's Chief Minister have announced compensation for victims' families—₹10 lakh from the Railways and ₹5 lakh from the state government, totaling ₹15 lakh for those who lost loved ones.
This tragedy is another reminder of how crucial railway safety protocols are.
