Cyclone alert issued for Andaman and Nicobar islands

Heads up if you're in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands: the IMD has put out a cyclone alert, with a weather system over the Bay of Bengal expected to get stronger from November 21.
Heavy rain is expected from November 21, with thunderstorms and gusty winds likely to hit especially around November 24-25.

Why does this matter?

The forecast says Nicobar could see up to 20cm of rain, while Andaman might get up to 11cm.
Winds could reach speeds of 50km/h, making sea conditions rough.
Fishermen have been told to stay off the water until at least November 23, and tourists or locals should avoid boating and beach activities for now.
Some ferry services may also be suspended if things get worse—so it's best to keep plans flexible and stay safe.
