Delhi blast: 12 dead, police treating it as terrorism case

India

A deadly explosion hit near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi on Monday evening, killing at least 12 people and injuring over 20.
The blast happened when a slow-moving Hyundai i20 that had stopped at a red light suddenly exploded, damaging nearby vehicles and buildings.
Police have opened a terrorism investigation and are treating the case as a serious crime.

Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage of the car's movements

The blast destroyed the car completely and set fire to six other cars, two e-rickshaws, and an autorickshaw. Firefighters rushed in to control the flames within half an hour.
Victims were taken to LNJP Hospital, where security was tight due to the severity of injuries—families gathered outside in shock and grief as most victims were identified by Tuesday morning.
Investigators are now reviewing CCTV footage of the car's movements; forensic teams are collecting evidence while officials work to track down those responsible.
