Delhi blast survivors at LNJP Hospital battle hearing loss, trauma

The recent blast in Delhi has left many victims with hearing loss and ear pain. The explosion occurred on Monday evening near the Red Fort Metro Station, killing 13 people and injuring several others. The injured have been admitted to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital (LNJP), where they are being treated for various injuries.

Victims' conditions and ongoing investigation
Currently, 12 patients are being treated at LNJP Hospital. Of these, six are in isolation wards, four are in the ICU, four are in the neurosurgery unit, and one is in the trauma centre, PTI reported. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is leading the probe into this incident. The blast was caused by a slow-moving vehicle that exploded at a traffic signal near Red Fort Metro Station around 6:52pm.

Victims' injuries and Prime Minister's visit
Among the injured, Md Safwan from Chennai is suffering from ear pain and leg injuries. Shiva Jaiswal from Uttar Pradesh has hearing issues, burns on his arm, forearm, and face, along with multiple abrasions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited LNJP Hospital on Wednesday to meet the victims. He called the explosion a "conspiracy" and assured that those responsible would be brought to justice.
Suspect details
Suspect identified and family of victim Ankush Sharma
The suspect behind the blast has been identified as Dr Umar Un Nabi, also known as Umar Mohammad, who is linked to a 'white collar' terrorist module. A DNA test confirmed his identity after the blast. Meanwhile, Ankush Sharma, a 28-year-old jewelry trader from Shahdara, was critically injured in the explosion. His family was devastated when they learned about his condition after initially thinking it was a road accident.
