Delhi CM gets tough on pollution: fines and jail for negligent officials

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is cracking down on pollution.
She's warned city officials that ignoring dust, construction waste, or road upkeep could mean heavy penalties or criminal action, including FIRs.
The push comes after Delhi saw "very poor" air quality on 30 out of 33 days since November 1—a wake-up call for the capital.

Departments get clear tasks—and tech steps in

To tackle the mess, different city departments now have set roles: PWD will fix up 1,400km of roads to cut dust, the Municipal Corporation will ramp up vacuum sweeping, and Delhi Metro will improve roads under its tracks.
Plus, the Green Delhi App is being used to spot pollution hotspots in real time and keep everyone accountable this winter.
