Delhi HC quashes FIR, suggests organizing bhandara instead
India
The Delhi High Court has quashed a 2020 assault FIR against a couple after they settled things with their neighbor.
Instead of dragging the case on, Justice Sanjeev Narula decided the couple should organize two bhandaras—one during Navratri and one on Diwali—for poor children of the area at Shiv Mandir, Radheypuri.
The neighbor agreed to this resolution, letting everyone move forward.
Court said chances of conviction were slim
Justice Narula pointed out that chances of conviction were slim and keeping the case alive would just waste time and resources.
Using special powers under Section 482 of CrPC, the court closed the matter since both sides genuinely made peace.
This shows how courts can encourage real-world solutions when people work things out themselves.
