Delhi Traffic Police issue new rules for Dussehra celebrations

India

Heading to Chandni Chowk or nearby markets this weekend?
Delhi Traffic Police have rolled out new traffic rules from October 18-21, 2025, to help everyone move safely and avoid the usual festive chaos between 2pm and 10pm.

Expect diversions and no entry for certain vehicles

Major diversions are in place—buses and commercial vehicles from Daryaganj will be sent toward Shanti Van, while routes from Old Delhi Railway Station and Lothian Road get redirected at Chhatta Rail.
E-rickshaws, autos, and cycle rickshaws can't go past key points like Chhatta Rail Chowk.
So if you're planning a visit, expect some detours.

Here are the other rules

You'll need to use designated parking spots at Parade Ground, ASI Parking, Dangal Maidan, or Omaxe Mall—roadside parking is off-limits to keep things moving.
Pedestrians are asked to stick to footpaths and marked crossings.
Authorities hope everyone follows these rules so the festival vibe stays fun (and frustration-free) for all.
