Ex-Kanpur medical college lecturer arrested for links to Delhi blast

India

Dr. Shaheen Shahid, once a lecturer at Kanpur's GSVM Medical College, has been arrested for alleged involvement in a terror network being probed in connection with the recent Delhi blast.
She'd stopped showing up to work years ago and was officially terminated/fired in 2021.
Now, investigators are questioning her in Srinagar about possible connections spanning Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

Shahid's name surfaced during investigation

Shahid is suspected of having links with Pakistan-based groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Gazwat-ul Hind (AGuH).
Her name came up after another suspect was caught with explosives, and police seized a vehicle registered to her that reportedly had weapons inside.
Authorities also believe she may have helped form JeM's women's wing in India—her old job records are now under review as part of the investigation.
