Army officer preventing robbery on board train injured; accused held

Four persons, accused of a robbery on board the CSTM-Amritsar Express, have been arrested today. During the incident, an Army lieutenant who tried to thwart the robbers' plan was injured by the accused. The incident took place on May 6, when the CSTM-Amritsar Express stopped between Palwal and Faridabad stations. All accused are being handed over to GRP Faridabad for further action. Here's more.

What exactly happened on the CSTM-Amritsar Express?

On May 6, the 11057 Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus-Amritsar Express stopped between Palwal and Faridabad stations when two miscreants boarded its A1 Coach and tried to steal the purse of a lady passenger. Lieutenant Ashish Kumar of 18 Medical Regiment of the Army, who was traveling in the same coach, tried to apprehend the criminals. The criminals, however, escaped after stabbing him in his hands.

Two of the accused admitted their involvement in the incident

On the complaint of Lt Kumar, GRP Faridabad registered an FIR. Today, a team of RPF and GRP apprehended the four accused - Amit Kumar, Parveen Sharma, Rajesh Kumar, and Kirodi alias Raja. Amit Kumar and Parveen Sharma admitted their involvement in the incident and it was found that they were habitual offenders against passengers in the Palwal-Faridabad section.
