Fuel prices stay steady across India—here's what you need to know

India

No surprises at the pump this Wednesday—petrol and diesel prices didn't budge in major Indian cities.
Since May 2022, rates have stayed put thanks to tax cuts from both central and state governments.
Prices are still updated every morning at 6am but even with global oil and currency swings, things have been pretty stable.

City-wise breakdown: Who's paying what?

If you're filling up in Delhi, petrol is ₹94.72 per liter and diesel is ₹87.62.
Mumbai drivers pay a bit more—₹104.21 for petrol and ₹92.15 for diesel.
Kolkata's rates are ₹103.94 (petrol) and ₹90.76 (diesel), while Chennai clocks in at ₹100.75 for petrol and ₹92.34 for diesel.

Why do prices vary so much?

Hyderabad tops the charts with the highest fuel costs: petrol at ₹107.46 and diesel at ₹95.70 per liter!
Other cities like Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Pune see different prices too, mostly because of local taxes and transport costs.
Even with all these differences, the steady pricing since May 2022 means fewer surprises when you fill up—no matter where you are in India.
