Ghaziabad jeweler killed during shop robbery

A 75-year-old jeweler, Girdhari Lal Verma, was tragically stabbed to death while trying to stop a robbery at his shop in Ghaziabad's Govindpuri area on Thursday.
Even though his son Rupinder was injured, he and a neighbor managed to catch the suspect, Ankit, before police arrived.

What's happening now

Police say Ankit has confessed and is under arrest as the investigation continues.
Verma's body is being examined and Rupinder is getting medical care.
Local traders almost shut down the market in protest but decided to hold off after talking with authorities.
