Sandhya Ramesh, who was 32 at the time of the 2019 incident, has been given a life sentence by a South Goa court for killing her husband, Navy sailor Kaushalendra Pratap Singh, in 2019; Singh was posted at INS Hansa, but the attack occurred at their residence in Goa.
She hit him on the head with a wooden club while he was asleep.
The court also fined her ₹50,000 under the murder charge.
Singh came home drunk, argued, damaged furniture before Ramesh retaliated
The couple had a troubled relationship: Singh reportedly struggled with alcohol and often got violent with Ramesh and their daughter.
On the day of the incident, Singh came home drunk, argued about his drinking habits, damaged furniture, and struck Ramesh first with wood.
She retaliated using the same club. Afterward, she called neighbors for help but Singh died from his injuries in a hospital.
The case included allegations of prior domestic abuse.
