Grapes stuck in containers as West Asia war halts exports
India
Exports of grapes from Maharashtra to Dubai, Kuwait, and Qatar have come to a standstill because of the ongoing tensions in West Asia.
Right now, around 1,000 containers packed with grapes are stuck at Navi Mumbai's port and cold storages after shipping lines suspended services.
Farmers fear price crash back home
This isn't just about grapes—about 16,000 tons could go to waste if things don't improve soon.
Farmers worry that if exports stay blocked, prices could crash back home too.
The conflict is also messing with India's basmati rice and other perishable exports, causing delays and extra costs for rerouting shipments.
The Commerce Ministry is keeping an eye on the situation as everyone hopes for a quick resolution.
