Haryana preacher arrested over explosives linked to Red Fort attack
Maulvi Ishtiyaq, a preacher from Haryana's Mewat, was arrested after police found 2,500kg of explosives at his home near Faridabad's Al Falah University.
The explosives were recovered as part of the investigation into the module believed to be responsible for the November 10 attack outside Delhi's Red Fort that left 15 people dead.
Ishtiyaq is now under investigation for his alleged role in a "white-collar" terror module.
He says he was tricked—and just wanted his rent
Ishtiyaq told police he was misled by two doctors, Dr. Muzammil Ganaie and Dr. Umar-un-Nabi, who paid him ₹2,500 a month to store what they claimed were "fertilizers."
He said his main worry was actually the unpaid rent they owed him for six months—money he hoped could help support his family as he faces legal trouble.
Investigators are now looking into possible links with larger terror groups behind the Red Fort attack.
