Woman undergoes sex-change surgery to marry friend, wife leaves him

In an unprecedented turn of events, a Haryana woman who underwent sex-change operation last year to marry her friend has landed in trouble, as now the wife doesn't want to stay together. The 21-year-old approached police saying his wife's parents aren't letting her out and laying roadblocks in their relationship. But the wife told police she doesn't want to be with him.

They fell in love in school, one volunteered for surgery

In his complaint, the husband revealed the two fell in love during school days. But the women realized there would be an objection to their same-sex marriage and one would have to undergo an operation. A family member of the husband said the sex-change operation cost Rs. 10 lakh and they borrowed money for it. The two then got married at a Delhi temple.

Girl sought time to convince parents

The wife knew her parents won't be convinced and sought time for the same. But it seemed she couldn't succeed in her quest and her family members didn't let her meet the husband. Eventually, the husband approached the police. But when police called the families for counseling, the girl said she didn't want to live with her husband and his family.

Here's what police said on the incident

Charkhi Dadri superintendent of police (SP) Smiti Chaudhary said, "Both the girl and boy are major. The boy showed us the pictures of their wedding in Delhi, but the girl said she did not want to be with him and live with his family."

Husband's family thinking of exploring legal options

The police clearly stated both the husband and wife are major and can take their decisions. But the police didn't rule out the possibility of the girl being pressurized. Chaudhary said though it seems like a closed case now, they will take the legal route if circumstances demand. Meanwhile, the husband's family told police they will explore legal options to bring them together.
