Heavy rainfall hits Kolkata; yellow alert issued

West Bengal, including Kolkata, got a big break from the heatwave as heavy rain and thunderstorms rolled in on Sunday. The IMD has put out a Yellow Alert for several districts—think Purulia, Hooghly, Howrah, Kolkata, and East Burdwan—warning about strong storms with lightning and gusty winds up to 40km/h.
