On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his day-long visit to Jammu and Kashmir, declared that the state had become one of the first in the country to achieve 100% electrification of households under the Center's Saubhagya Scheme. PM Modi is slated to flag off dozens of developmental projects in J&K, and has announced a massive push for education and healthcare. Here's more.

PM Modi will visit Leh, Srinagar, and Jammu

PM Modi's itinerary includes visits to Leh, Srinagar, and Jammu. Earlier in the day, PM Modi visited Leh, interacted with the locals, and launched educational and power projects in the region. From Leh, PM Modi will head to Jammu, before heading to the state's winter capital, Srinagar. He's also slated to make a stop at the famous Dal Lake.

Education
PM Modi is focusing on education in the state

In Ladakh, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the University of Ladakh - the first-ever university to be set up in the region. PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the northern regional center of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) in Jammu. Further, PM Modi will also lay foundation stones for several model degree colleges in the state via video conference.

Healthcare
Two AIIMS to be established in Jammu, Srinagar

In the domain of healthcare, PM Modi is slated to lay the foundation stones for two AIIMS - India's premier medical research cum hospitals - in Jammu and Srinagar. The two institutes are expected to not only provide quality healthcare in their respective regions, but are also expected to transform health education and healthcare education in the state.

Electricity
Major electricity projects to be inaugurated by PM Modi

Apart from announcing 100% electrification of households in Jammu and Kashmir, PM Modi is also slated to launch a host of power generation projects. Among projects to be inaugurated are the 624-MW Kiru hydroelectric project, the 9-MW Dah hydroelectric project, the 220-KV Srinagar-Alusteng-Drass-Kargil-Leh transmission system, and the 400-KV Jalandhar-Samba-Rajouri-Shopian-Amargarh (Sopore) transmission system. These projects will augment grid connectivity in the state.

Information
An important bridge's foundation stone will also be laid

PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the 1,640-meter span double-lane bridge over the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir's Sajwal. The bridge will reduce the distance between Sajwal and Indri Pattian from the current 47km to just 5km.
